Marriott Bonvoy October 2023 Terms & Conditions Update
Marriott tends to update the Terms and Conditions of its Bonvoy guest loyalty program several times a year and just pushed through its October 2023 revisions.
These T&Cs are nearly 100 pages long and contain 31,500 words (no wonder everyone has great difficulty understanding and interpreting them – especially Bonvoy agents).
You can access Bonvoy program T&Cs here.

Bonvoy T&Cs October 2023 Update
Participating Hotels:
xxvi. City Express by Marriott™ – all locations except for: A. City Express Rio de Janeiro Barra da Tijuca
There is now one City Express hotel that doesn’t appear willing to pay the Bonvoy loyalty program participating fee and is excluded from the program (no points or benefits).
Points For F&B When Not Staying:
A linked payment card on www.marriott.com/loyalty/earn/earn-without-a-stay to a Member’s profile may earn Points for charges incurred by the Member without a stay at a participating outlet at certain Participating Properties.
This is a brand-new initiative from Marriott that we will cover tomorrow.
Events & Ambassador Status Qualifying Charges
Marriott Bonvoy Event charges do not count toward the Ambassador Elite Annual Qualifying Spend.
Marriott has now added a note that these event charges are not ambassador-qualifying.
Conclusion
Nothing too drastic, and the new F&B feature looks quite interesting but may include a devaluation (more of that tomorrow).
It is a bit of a surprise that there is ONE City Express hotel whose owner has decided not to be part of Bonvoy, but let’s see if this changes when their contract with Marriott is up.
