Traffic alert: Maine Turnpike exits to close this weekend

There are multiple projects that mean traffic will be impacted

Multiple exits on the Maine Turnpike will be closed this weekend for construction work.Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, the southbound on and off ramps at exit 42 for Scarborough will be closed and will reopen by 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16. The Maine Turnpike Authority says the closures are needed so that crews can repair a joint that carried the southbound ramps over the highway.This work is weather-dependent. In the event of inclement weather, the work will be pushed to the following weekend, beginning on Friday, Oct. 20.Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, the northbound on and off ramps at exit 48 in Portland/Westbrook will close for the night and will reopen by 5 a.m. the next morning. The Turnpike Authority says crews will be making repairs to the bridge that carries traffic over Warren Avenue. The work will also require overnight lane closures on the mainline of the Turnpike.This work is weather dependent and the rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 15.
