After the installation of triangle-patterned steel frameworks, the first Spaceship Earth-inspired panels have been installed on CommuniCore Hall in EPCOT.
Spaceship Earth Panels on CommuniCore Hall
CommuniCore Hall will be located in the World Celebration neighborhood of EPCOT, not far from Spaceship Earth. Concept art for the new building showed its Spaceship Earth-inspired exterior.
The exterior is starting to come together in real life now. The building is covered in various types of paneling, including black panels with a grid of straight lines across it.
On this section of wall facing Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana,” crews have installed a few silver panels resembling the Alucobond panels on Spaceship Earth. They fit in the steel triangles created by the steel framework.
Crews have also been working on the walkway between CommuniCore Hall and Journey of Water.
There are tall white poles in the walkway, which open up into thin triangles with horizontal poles at the top.
The Spaceship Earth-inspired paneling is made of three triangular pieces that fit together into a three-dimensional pyramid.
Only a few triangles have been filled in with the new panels. Blue tarps hang behind most of the triangle framework.
The panels have shading that make their dimensions look even more dramatic.
A lift was up near the building, but no crew member was inside.
This section of the building may be the entrance to the Mickey & Friends meet and greet, as seen in the concept art below.
The wall where paneling has been installed would be the one on the right in this artwork.
CommuniCore Hall will also house a gallery, demo kitchen, and mixology bar to be used during various EPCOT festivals.
Colorful Spaceship Earth-inspired paneling is also visible in this wider concept art.
CommuniCore Hall and Plaza replace the originally planned festival center. They are named after the opening-day CommuniCore Pavilions that later became Innoventions.
