Disney World is going to look like a completely different place in the next 10 years.
Not only are there bound to be changes to systems like Park Passes and Genie+ over the years, but Disney recently announced a $60 billion expansion plan over the next decade, which includes projects in Disney World. With the recent Destination D23 event, Disney teased plenty of upcoming projects and that’s what we’re here to talk about now!
So here is a mix of upcoming Disney World projects and expansions that have concept art from Disney.
If you’ve ever been on the Disneyland version of Haunted Mansion, then you probably remember the Hatbox Ghost. He’s only one of the most iconic happy haunts in the mansion! In 2022, Disney announced that the Hatbox Ghost would make its way to the Disney World ride as well.
When Disney announced the timeline for Hatbox Ghost in Disney World as late November 2023, they also gave us a glimpse at this concept art. We don’t know about you, but this is nightmare fuel! Nevertheless, we can’t wait for this ghost to join Florida’s version of the Haunted Mansion.
Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge
Not much else was mentioned about the lounge, but we get the vibe based on the concept art released by Disney. Some clues we want to mention — Barker Bird (a Pirates icon!), a pirate with bright red hair (could that be THE Redd?), and a look at the decor. We’re anxiously awaiting more details for this lounge!
At this point, it probably feels like you’ve seen lots of EPCOT concept art since the transformation has been going on for years. However, the construction is almost complete and this is the latest picture shared by Disney of the park!
Walls have been up all around the front area of EPCOT but this gives us a look at the park when all of these walls come down. It also shows where CommuniCore Hall and the Moana attraction are in relation to the rest of the park areas that we are already familiar with.
Moana Meet and Greet
Along with the opening of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, a brand new Moana meet and greet location will debut!
We’ve been watching the construction for this area, but Disney’s concept art here gives a clue as to what the finished product will look like. These two Moana-themed attractions open on October 16th, 2023!
One of the least-expected announcements of the year was changes coming to Test Track! The high-speed attraction is set to be reimagined soon (yes, MORE construction in EPCOT).
The timeline is unclear, but we can gather some clues about what to expect from the changes based on the concept art. It looks like this new version could drive through a forest of sorts. The ride vehicles also look as if they’re going to be similar to those seen in World of Motion when the ride opened in 1982. We’ll just have to wait and see!
If you’ve been in this theater recently, then you’ll recognize it from this concept art of the show. It looks like the new Zootopia version will also be in 3D and feature all of your favorite characters from the movie. There is also no timeline for this one, but we’ll keep you updated on any new developments!
It’s official — DinoLand USA is being replaced. While we take our time to mourn and enjoy our last memories in the land, many are also excited about the possibilities teased by Disney.
There is also no timeline for this project and no official replacements have been confirmed, however, Disney recently teased us with concept art featuring Encanto and Indiana Jones lands. The latter would make sense when it comes to attractions since the ride Dinosaur uses the same ride system as Indiana Jones Adventure over in Disneyland. Again, nothing is confirmed, but it’s fun to look at the photo and imagine what could be.
Magic Kingdom Expansion
Okay, okay…this concept art was released back in 2022, but we still thought it was important to show. So consider this our honorable mention and take a look at the possibilities for Magic Kingdom’s expansion.
In this photo, you can see ideas for a Coco-themed area, an Encanto-themed land, and a Disney Villain land. While we know an expansion is coming to Magic Kingdom eventually, none of these concepts have been confirmed for the park just yet.
Here is your look at some upcoming projects and their concept art released by Disney! Keep following AllEars for the latest updates from the Disney parks.
