Interstate 10 westbound closed outside Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – At least one person was killed in a multiple-vehicle wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 westbound near Vail late Sunday, Sept. 24.

Arizona DPS said the crash happened around 9:10 p.m. Sunday.

DPS says a passenger vehicle was heading east in the westbound lanes when it hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver of the wrong way vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to a Tucson hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in that vehicle was taken to by ground ambulance to a Tucson hospital.
