Disney100 decorations have been added throughout the entrance area and World Celebration at EPCOT as 100th anniversary offerings begin at the park.
Before entering EPCOT, platinum and purple banners featuring Mickey and friends in their Disney100 outfits line the walkways.
After entering, a Disney100 sign reads “Thank you for celebrating with us!”
Platinum Mickey Statue
The new platinum Mickey statue is in front of the giant “100” at the front of the bridge to World Showcase, with Spaceship Earth behind it. The quote on the statue’s base reads “…it was all started by a mouse.”
The statue is identical to the one at Disneyland Park, which was originally installed in January, but with the incorrect quote “It all started with a mouse.” The full original quote by Walt Disney was actually “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing: that it was all started by a mouse.” The Mickey statue was removed soon after and returned in February with the correct quote.
Disneyland also has a platinum Minnie Mouse statue with the lyric “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”
Disney100 Character Mural
A new mural can be found on the construction walls lining the west walkway to World Showcase.
The mural is an overhead view of EPCOT and features 100 Disney characters, in honor of 100 years of Disney.
It encourages guests to find their favorite characters and has a list of characters on the right side.
Some of the characters we spotted include:
- Oswald and Ortensia
- WALL-E and Eve
- Lightning McQueen
- Wreck-it Ralph and Vanellope
- Ember and Wade
- Chip and Dale
- Horace Horsecollar
- Mickey and Minnie
- Dreamfinder and Figment
- Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible
- Anna and Elsa
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- Mowgli and Baloo
- Hercules and Megara
- Belle and the Beast
- Peter Pan
- Cruella de Vil
- Mary Poppins
- Daisy Duck
- Meilin Lee
- Kenai and Koda
The bulk of World Celebration, including Dreamers Point and CommuniCore Hall, will finally open this December.
100 Years of Wonder
Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder (or Disney100 for short) is being celebrated across the world at Disney Parks and Resorts.
The 100 Years of Wonder celebration began at Disneyland Resort with “Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland and “World of Color – ONE” at Disney California Adventure. There is a platinum Mickey statue (which initially had to be fixed because the Walt Disney quote on the base was incorrect) and a platinum Minnie statue in Disneyland.
Disneyland Resort is offering the “Celebrating Disney100 at the Disneyland Resort” guided tour, including a walk through both parks, the drawing experience at Animation Academy, a digital download of a photo taken in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, a Disney100 snack, reserved parade viewing, and a limited-edition pin.
EPCOT is debuting several Disney100 offerings. At the Magic Eye Theater, guests can meet Mickey and Minnie in their platinum 100th anniversary outfits. At night, Spaceship Earth will light up with a special Disney100 spectacle of light featuring a special rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
The purple metallic Mickey Balloon Premium Popcorn Bucket is available and new Global Marketplaces will open as part of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.
A new nighttime spectacular, “Luminous: The Symphony of Us,” is scheduled to premiere on December 5. The show was originally supposed to debut for the 100th anniversary in October but was reportedly delayed due to the soundtrack.
