REVIEW: Dr. J's Juice from Isla Nu-Bar Inspires a Monstrous Transformation at Halloween Horror Nights 2023 in Universal Studios Hollywood

In honor of Universal Monsters: Unmasked, a specialty cocktail has been added to Isla Nu-Bar on the Lower Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood. Dr. J’s juice is inspired by Dr. Jekyll and may have you transforming into Mr. Hyde. Let’s hit up Isla Nu-Bar and give Dr. J’s Juice a try.

Isla Nu-Bar offers several Jurassic World themed cocktails and tiki cups, but the small sign for Dr. J’s Juice caught our attention. This drink is available from Isla Nu-Bar all day, so even if you’re not hanging out with the monsters late at night, you can still get this specialty cocktail.

Dr. J’s Juice – $17

Vodka, coconut rum, blue curaçao, melon liqueur, lemon juice, and sparkling Sicilian lemonade topped with a green apple rock candy

This beautiful green drink is garnished with a green apple rock candy. Rock candy is a much better drink topper than the cotton candy featured on some of the other specialty Halloween cocktails. It doesn’t starting disintegrating in the drink and its easy to take out or leave in the drink. The rock candy stick is already a win for us. Now it’s time to see if it tastes as good as it looks

The cocktails are mixed by the bar tenders, not premixed, so you can definitely taste the liquor. The first sip was powerful, with a nice refreshing melon and crisp citrus flavor. As we continued to sip, the coconut flavor of the rum really started to take over. The coconut flavor is strong, maintaining the tropical vibes of Isla Nu-Bar. Dr. J’s Juice wasn’t overly sweet or sugary, which made the rock candy a nice addition. The green apple rock candy makes a nice stir stick or a sugary little snack between sips. We would highly recommend this one.

The monster-inspired specialty cocktail from Isla Nu-Bar was one of our favorites from Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Monsters: Unmasked was also one of our favorite houses during Halloween Horror Nights. If you’re visiting Universal Studios Hollywood, be sure to try Dr. J’s Juice from Isla Nu-Bar.
