Plane makes emergency landing at Dane Co. Regional Airport
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A plane made an emergency landing Thursday night at the Dane County Regional Airport for a mechanical issue, spokespersons from the airport and airline confirmed.
Airport Director of Marketing and Communications Michael Riechers said the Delta Air Lines plane landed unexpectedly around 9:40 p.m. Thursday. The aircraft had a safe landing and taxied on its own without any issues, he explained.
A spokesperson from Delta Airlines indicated the unplanned landing happened after the crew learned of a mechanical issue.
“The aircraft landed safely and an alternate aircraft was dispatched to Madison to help our customers more quickly get to their final destinations while the original aircraft was evaluated by maintenance technicians,” the airline stated. “We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels.”
The plane was heading from Minneapolis to Buffalo when it diverted, the spokesperson continued, and there were 127 customers and five crew members on board.
