Jackknifed tractor-trailer snarls traffic on Route 146
LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — Traffic was backed up for miles on Route 146 after a tractor-trailer jackknifed during the Tuesday evening commute.
The truck initially blocked both lanes on Route 146 South near the Wilbur Road overpass, according to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. The highway has since reopened.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said the truck spilled 100 gallons of fuel onto the highway. The owner of the tractor-trailer hired an environmental cleanup contractor to remediate the spill, according to the DEM.
It’s unclear what caused the crash or if anyone was injured.
